Secure Computer Suites

SCS enables organisations to provide unsupervised access to IT resources without the concern of damage or theft. The technical implementation involves removing all the computer base units from the desk or floor and housing them in a purpose-built rack, typically located in a separate, secure room.

Where a separate location isn’t available, lockable, acoustically-shielded racks are supplied to realise the same benefits of reduced noise, heat and distraction that standard SCS installations enjoy. In the unlikely event of a total operating system crash, an in-house designed remote reboot solution allows teaching staff to hard-reset machines via a telephone handset or web interface without IT staff intervention.

All cable interconnects are hidden securely behind metal or plastic plates and any exposed electrical plugs (for example those on monitors) are replaced by wiring them directly into fused spurs. Workstations can optionally be installed with in-desk headphone and USB connectors to allow users to connect additional peripherals such as memory sticks or digital cameras.
